Rick Barnhart

Dr. Rick Barnhart has operated businesses, pastored churches, led an Association, and resourced Associational Missionary Strategists. He has experienced associational ministry from every angle — as a lay member, as a pastor, and as a leader. He has, not only his own experiences, but also those of Associational Missionaries whom he has resourced.

Out of Alabama’s 74 associations, we have 66 rural associations. So my goal has been to develop a tool they could use in evaluating themselves and then come out with a strategy for a couple of years.

Rick holds his MDiv from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He completed his DMin at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in the area of strategic planning for rural Baptist associations.

Rick was the founding pastor of Lifeway Community Church, Associational Missionary at the Baldwin Baptist Association, and Director of the Office of Associational Missions and Church Planting at the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.

Most rural associations don’t have the resources that our urban associations might have to do self-studies and to bring in consultants and spend $5,000 or $10,000 for that kind of study.
